Who I am

As mentioned, my name is Erica and I am from Southern California. I am the oldest of four kids and am very close with my family. I played soccer all growing up and was a college goalkeeper at Cal State San Marcos. While I was in college, I dedicated my life to the Lord, got baptized, and volunteered at my church.

Now, I have been working in ministry for almost 7 years. One thing I have loved about ministry is getting to know people and hear their stories. I love how God can speak to us through the lives of others. I have seen God use my experiences to encourage other people and it is truly an honor.

I decided to start “Holy in Progress” because I want to share with others all that God has done and is doing in my life. Throughout my walk wiith Jesus, I have battled depression, burnout, chronic fatigue syndrome, and misplaced identity. God has brought me through all of it and has helped me grow closer to Him.

I have learned so much about God through my time as a pastor, my time in soccer, my experiences with depression, and through all the relationships in my life. When I was depressed, Jesus gave me hope. When I was burntout, he gave me strength. When I was fatigued, he gave me rest. When I felt alone, He provided a wonderful community through my family and friends. When I put my identity in my performance, he reminded me that I am a daughter of the most High King.

In this blog, I plan to share things I have learned in Scripture and in my experiences. You will get to hear about some of the messyness of my life, and how Jesus meets me there every time. My hope is that this blog will be a place where you can go to learn, to be encouraged, to be reminded of God’s truth in your life, and to know that no matter how messy your situation may feel, you are not alone. We are all Holy in Progress.
